Handcrafted Umbilical Cord Burn Box

$60.00

Hand Crafted with sustainably sourced Redwood and Cedar, Umbilical Cord Burn Boxes are made to create a safe container to catch the wax during a cord burning. Each box includes two complementary hand dipped beeswax candles for your cord burning ritual!

A Walnut Oil finish, and/or Wood Burned Design can be added to your custom built box for a little extra cost*

INSTRUCTIONS::

Open flame is only suitable for home births since it is not permitted in hospital settings.

Ask your provider if this method would be suitable for the space you will be birthing in and if they are open to assisting you in this closing ritual.

First, tie or clamp cord close to baby, and close to placenta. This can be optional, depending on how long you wait for blood to transfer.

Second, Drape the umbilical cord longways across the box. You will want to find a thinner part of the cord where the artery and veins have no coagulated blood in appearance to begin your burn. Rest your candles in the box perpendicularly to the cord.

Lastly, savor this ~10 minute mindful ritual as you create closure to your birth & labor window, and enjoy a slow process of separation.

Candles and Boxes can then be kept on baby’s shelf or dresser for storage, a place to hold keepsakes as they grow, and reused as birthday candles upon baby’s (and mamas!) first Birth Day.
