Raw Cacao Beans

$15.00
sold out

Includes: 4oz jar of dehydrated cacao beans

Beans dehydrated at 110 degrees to preserve the beneficial properties of raw cacao and offer an experience to taste the fruit as a delicacy.

Once a Cacao pod is mature, it ripens into a pod that contains a variety of yellow, green, red, orange, and even purple colors. To harvest, you cut it off directly from the branches of the Theobromine Cacao Tree, and use an edge to crack it open upon. Inside each pod contains about 20-30 beans/seeds, which are attached the a center funicle called the placenta and are coated in a delectable white fruit. Most don’t know that most cacao is a brilliant purple color raw- its not until you ferment and roast it that it begins taking on its brown chocolatey tone. We find this state of the Cacao such an important part of getting to connect to this plant, and particularly hard if you don’t have access to visiting a location (10 degrees North & South of the equator to be exact) where cacao grows.
